Ropin is a registered
Pinto gelding, born August 1996 right here in
Pueblo. His sire is an APHA stallion, Beetle
Bombhilight, dam is unregistered. He's approx 15.2,
and gives a real smooth ride. He works off your
legs really well, has a decent stop, and a nice back
with a soft mouth. He does have a little arthritis
in one shoulder that loosens up after you've been
on awhile. This is a horse that can stand for
months without being ridden and then put somebody on
that can't ride without fear of bucking, rearing, or
just plain being ornery. He doesn't kick or bite
and certainly isn't mean. He's at the bottom of the
totem pole with the other horses. His feet are in
good shape and easy to handle. He stands well for
shots and is UTD. You can clip him, bathe him, load
him easily. You can rope off of him (I took him to
a local roper to watch this as I don't rope) just
fine. He isn't afraid of cows, ropes, etc, but
doesn't really understand the concept of a roping
box. He'd be fine with general ranch work. You can
trail ride with him just fine, takes water, ditches,
the mountains, etc.. He'd be best with someone who
doesn't want anything too serious in the trail
venue, however, as he does get a little nervous in
tight spots and want to keep moving. This is reason
#1 for selling. Since we've had him (1 1/2 years
now) he's always gone out with the other horses, but
before I bought him, I rode him out alone and he
went fine. I assume he still does. He doesn't
particularly like to be tied alone. He'll paw and
holler. Reason #2 for selling: He's suddenly taken
a bratty streak to my oldest daughter, age 10, when
she's in the corral messing with her own horse.
She's now scared of him. He's got her
buffalo-ed. So apparently, he'll test some
people, although he LOVES my 7 year old daughter.
He's just not working for us, but for most, he'd be
perfect. $3500 FIRM.
